Traditions and rıtuals

Most of them were religious but there were also traditions and rituals that weren’t so connected to religion. For example, “mummification”was one of them. The reason of mummification was to keep the corpses well. The ancient Egyptians found out that the corpses were not damaged while they are covered with the dry sands of Egypt. Instead of sand, they used different materials. We can still see the tattoos of the people that are mummified after thousands of years. In conclusion, mummification is one of the most popular traditions of the ancient Egyptians.

First of all, despite the Muslims that ruled the country afterwards, the ancient Egyptians believed in more than one god. For instance, Amun, Anubis, Aten, Atum, Bastet, Bes, Geb, Hapy, Hathor, Horus, Isis, Khepri, Khnum, Ma’at, Nephthys, Nun, Nut, Osiris, Ptah, Ra, Ra-Horakhty, Sekhmet, Seshat, Seth, Shu, Sobek, Tawaret, Tefnut and Thoth. The ancient Egyptians made temples for these gods. This has become a tradition and ritual in the ancient Egyptians. They are known from their marvelous temples. For example, Hatshepsut’s Mortuary Temple, The Ramesseum, Medinet Habu, Luxor Temple, Karnak, Abu Simbel, Abydos, Philae, Edfu, Kom Ombo and Dendera are the most famous temples of the ancient Egypt.
